Is the pain internal or on the surface? Clogged duct, irritate skin, cut, milk blister are some things that come to mind.

@regberadaisy: aha. I can see a whitish spot on the nipple. Tried hand expressing and a hot washcloth, now letting her nurse on this side and hoping it gets out.

@Foodnerd81: Ok yeah, that's probably a bleb! Those are painful. If heat doesn't work, you can sterilize a needle (boil it or wipe down with an alcohol pad) and use the tip to help get it out. It helps...

Yep. Needle! The needle, to me, didn't hurt much at all. Definitely way, way less pain than nursing.
